A long-standing relationship between coach and student-athlete that goes back to high school paid off this season at Olive-Harvey. First year head coach Rakecia Jenkins has helped guide the development of freshman middle hitter Ashley Belanger for years and it showed in her rookie collegiate season. “She was eager, she was hungry, and she wanted to learn,” says Jenkins. “She put in all the work and ended up being a six-rotation player… she’s done a great job pulling up digs, passing it to targets like she needs to. She’s made me very proud of her growth.”
